Description:  A post-mortem photographer reports the strange disappearance of the body of his latest subject, whose shadow mysteriously remains.

Welcome to the city of Newfaire, a world not wholly unlike our own during the turn of the century. The newly widespread introduction of electricity has illuminated the streets, along which horse-drawn carriages clop over cobblestones among prowling, primitive automobiles and darting velocipedes. Unlike our world, Newfaire has been built on the ruins of a largely forgotten civilization: Oldfaire, which was destroyed for toying far too much with the forces of magick. In this world, magick is real but very frightening, for it comes from a world entirely apart from this one: a horrifying dimension, separated by a barrier called the Flare, where abominations beyond mortal ken roam freely.

Most of Newfaire lives in ignorance of these truths and do not believe in the existence of magick, or else fear it too much to deal with those who do. Not you, though. Candela Obscura is a secret society which attempts to defend the citizens of Newfaire by studying the occasional incursions from the Flare, magick, and repressing their influence. Who are you? What terrible thing broke you out of the blissful ignorance of these nefarious forces? And what brings you in as an investigator?

Note:  Candela Obscura is a rules-lite horror/mystery game with adult themes, so all players should be 18+. Characters run the risk of being transformed in some way throughout the scenario due to mechanics and/or killed. Body horror is thus a warning. Pre-generated character sheets will be provided, everything will be taught. This game is played with d6s but these can also be provided. Arrive 30-45 min early if you want to make your own character sheet.
